Part Time Assistant Accountant also needed!

We are currently seeking to recruit an outgoing, highly motivated and experienced individual, who is AAT qualified (or equivalent), to join the MAGIC team in the role of Assistant Accountant.

This role is a part time position, located within our Head Office in Knowle, Solihull.

Job Description

This is a client facing role that involves day-to-day account management and on-going business support to your own portfolio of clients; the candidate will therefore possess excellent communication skills and have previous experience of working in a similar role.

Working as part of a small but busy team, you will be responsible for processing client day-to-day bookkeeping records, preparing monthly management reports and vat returns, as well as providing on-going business advice and support to customers.

You will work closely with fellow accountants within the team, to deliver a professional and stress free service to a national client base.

With a strong emphasis on providing timely and proactive accountancy services in a friendly and approachable manner, as Assistant Accountant you will be required to carry out the following tasks with confidence and professionalism;

Key Responsibilities

-          Manage a portfolio of owner managed businesses

-          Liaising with and answering client queries by phone, email and face to face

-          On-boarding new clients and introducing them to the cloud software

-          Processing client sales and purchase invoices, receipts and payments online

-          Processing Bank and other control account reconciliations

-          Adhering to filing deadlines – which will include chasing clients for missing information

-          Processing & filing VAT Returns

-          Preparation and posting of Journals

-          Preparing and finalising accounts to trial balance

-          Maintaining client fixed asset register and provision schedules

-          Preparation and analysis of Monthly Management reports for clients

-          Advise clients on basic tax efficiency measures

-          Develop long lasting and personable client relationships

-          Communicating with HMRC on behalf of clients

-          Registering client companies for VAT

-          Create and maintain client files on internal databases

-          Internal reporting preparation to support senior accountants

-          Answer and field general calls

Skills and experience

 -        Qualified AAT or equivalent (qualified by experience considered)

-        Minimum 2 years previous and proven bookkeeping experience within a similar accounting role/environment

-        Experience using online accounting packages such as Kashflow and Xero as well as more traditional software packages (Sage)

-        Possess excellent communication skills (both oral & written), to include an excellent telephone manner

-        Possess strong IT skills, including MS Office applications

Benefits

-            22 days holiday a year (plus bank holidays)

-            Extra Half day holiday on your birthday

Salary:             £20,000 to £24,000 Pro-rata (D.O.E)

 

Hours:              20 Hours

We would initially like to employ someone for a minimum of 20 hours per week, with the possibility of increasing these hours (possibly to full time) as the client portfolio grows.
