Part Time Payroll and Accounts Assistant

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll and Accounts Assistant to join our small but busy team on a part time basis.

This is a permanent role and will be based at our head office in Knowle, Solihull.

Within this combined role of Payroll & Accounts Assistant, you will be primarily be responsible for processing client payrolls and auto enrolment duties as well as undertaking bookkeeping for a variety of clients.

Main Payroll duties will include;

  • Liaising with clients regarding any payroll and Auto Enrolment matters
  • Processing payroll and automatic enrolment calculations
  • Processing Starters and Leavers
  • Collating and inputting time-sheets and time-sheet data
  • Processing and ensuring accurate calculations and deduction for statutory deductions
  • Uploading pension files to pension providers
  • Dealing with automatic enrolment opt-ins/outs and worker communications
  • Dealing with HMRC regarding PAYE matters
  • Processing end of year submissions

Accounts Assistant duties will include;

  • Dealing with your own small portfolio of clients regarding their records and accounting information
  • Recording transactions on accounting software
  • Assistance with production of monthly management reports
  • Preparation and filing of VAT returns
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Reconciling nominal control accounts
  • Posting depreciation and other nominal journals

Experience and Skills required

  • A minimum of 2 years proven experience in a similar  payroll and or accounts assistant role
  • AAT or CIPP certified desirable
  • Be able to effectively manage time and prioritise workload
  • Posses excellent communication skills (both oral & written), to include an excellent telephone manner
  • Possess strong IT skills, including MS Office applications
  • Demonstrate Payroll knowledge sufficient to complete pay runs without assistance
  • Be organised, professional and efficient with the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.

  • 22 days holiday a year (plus bank holidays)
  • Extra Half day holiday on your birthday

Salary:             £20,000 to £24,000 (D.O.E) pro-rata

Hours:              20 Hours per week 

We are initially looking to employ someone for a minimum of 20 hours per week to start, with the possibility of this increasing over time.
